I have made no secret of the fact that I am a HUGE fan of erotic novels. I’ve read them on planes, in cars, in the dark with a torch and even more recently, on audio book during my daily commute. I love the promise of ‘everything always works out’ that each unique story holds, even if it’s unrealistic!
You may be wondering how spending time reading this sort of loved-up trash makes me thousands of dollars each month; and I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that it’s the biggest load of crap you’ve ever heard. But it’s true.
Reading these novels takes me away from reality, even if just for small increments of time and allows me to dream. It’s like a darling little holiday for my mind and soul. Dreaming is where all good ideas are made into goals and then come to fruition.
These books follow a very typical storyline... character meets someone gorgeous, they fall in love, there’s a complication of sorts, they make passionate love and then they live happily ever after. But throughout all of this, there is always the light at the end of the tunnel. The light that shines so brightly and optimistically that you can’t help but feel the same (even during the complication) because you know that it’s all going to work out.
While I’m reading and I’m feeling all optimistic and positive (and giggling myself stupid, hanging onto every erotic word), it evokes feelings of passion for other areas of my life, including business and work. I feel excited (pun intended) about the possibilities for my business and this positive energy transfers into my motivation and drive. I have been known to sit and write pages of content for my eBook, e course modules and even finish my annual school reports; all because I have a spark of enthusiasm after reading.
Taking the time to read erotic novels makes me super productive. When I take the time to do something for myself, I recharge. When I recharge, I have the energy to devote to my tasks and goals and I can immerse myself in a task for as long as it takes. I find that when I’m focused, inspired and positive about the task I’m undertaking, I get a better result; in both the product and the financial outcomes.
Just 2 months ago, I attributed my new consult contract with a national direct sales company to listening to the 50 Shades of Grey audio book on my way to and from work. It made me feel confident and good about approaching the company. That contract was mine within 3 days.
Reading for success is just my choice for ‘me time’ but it may not be your thing. Start doing something that you love and it will come. Find something to do that relaxes you. Something that allows your mind and soul to recharge, and then take advantage of the emotion and feelings that you get from that activity to boost your productivity (and your bank balance).
I’d love to hear about what works for you, so please leave your comments.
